    AFGE Council 260 periodically sponsors presentations to NARA bargaining unit employees to discuss employee rights and obligations. The following are some of the recent presentations:

    • THE NEW UNIFORM PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL RATING PERIOD: a discussion by Peter Jeffrey, president of AFGE Council 260, regarding the new Uniform Performance Appraisal Rating Period and your rights. Peter will explain why the rating period is being introduced and how managers must conduct performance evaluations under the terms of the Union contract.     • POLITICAL ACTIVITY (THE HATCH ACT): The Union hosted a discussion regarding the Hatch Act. The Hatch Act restricts the political activity of executive branch employees of the federal government; however, under the 1993 amendments to the Hatch Act most federal employees are now permitted to take an active part in political management and political campaigns. Peter Jeffrey, President of AFGE Council 260, lead the discussion focusing on the permitted activities for employees who may participate in partisan political activity.
